Volunteering at the Farmers’ Market

It’s already August 5th! Can you believe it? Seems like just yesterday that I started volunteering at Crabtree Farms for our weekly CSA box and walked excitedly down a stage to shake the hands of people I didn’t know.

With no school to get ready for this month, I am throwing myself head first into volunteering at Crabtree twice a week. Besides harvesting, sorting produce, planting, and setting up the CSA boxes with other volunteers, I also attend the weekly Farmers’ Market with one of the CT farmers. This experience has been really fun and quite a change from the dreadful retail experiences I have formerly committed myself to (any of you readers who have worked at a restaurant will understand me!).

Every vendor is super nice and genuinely excited about their products; the customers are patient, helpful and SO enthusiastic to visit their favorite vendors each week. Also, it’s such a great feeling to know that my volunteer hours are contributing to a better world by sharing farm grown, organic fruits and vegetables!
